*) India ( New Delhi ): A day later the Supreme Court ( SC ) interrogate the govt over the absence of a head of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has defended herself on Sat.

"The SC has made it obivious that their inspection is not opposing the Speaker," said  Sumitra Mahajan.



She said that the SC has inquire the govt and not her to respond to the chief of Opposition affair in the Lower House.


"The Attorney General will notify the apex court about the govt's stand on the head of Opposition with view to Lokpal invitation. My task was to resolve whether a leader should be identified as a chief of Opposition or not and that judgement has been taken based on numbers. No opposition party has more than fifty five representative, " she said.

The apex court had stretched up the govt over the bare post, saying it was the 1st time that Parliament was confront with such a concept making it tough to make decisive consultation alike the Lokpal.

The Speaker's Sumitra choice not to elect a Leader of Opposition was set to influence the affairs of crucial constitutional jurisdictions involving the panel of the Chief Information Commissioner.


Afterwards Rajiv Mathur resigned on Friday from the pole of Central Information Commission, the govt is yet to name the new leader. nevertheless, according to the Right to Information Act ( RIA) , the chief of Opposition is need to give his or her opinion on the assignment of a new Central Information Commision ( CIC ).

Replying to the developments, Congress chief Abhishek Manu Singhvi added, "The Bharat Janta Party ( BJP ) is captured in its own net. A vaccum in the constitutional post has emerge and the govt will get into a difficulty every time the LoP is necessary for such an assignment. It is yet to be seen if the govt will keep the Lokpal deserted or switch the act."
